Tom Courtney has over 25 years of experience as a Private Equity investor and investment banker at Morgan Stanley, Alex. Brown, James D. Wolfensohn Inc., and The Courtney Group. Mr. Courtney and Mr. Fechtmeyer began their business collaboration in New York not long after Mr. Courtney formed The Courtney Group in 1995. and expanded under Mr. Courtney’s leadership of Emigrant Capital, a Private Equity business Mr. Courtney launched in 1999 with an evergreen pool of $150 million from single investor. In 2003, Mr. Courtney moved to Newport Beach, CA and The Courtney Group has emerged as a leading merchant bank on the West Coast. His firm has since completed 60 investment banking assignments and closed 16 Private Equity investments as principal. His industry experience is broad with a focus on consumer goods and services, chemicals, energy, financial services, health care, manufacturing, and technology. He has served on 17 boards of directors, including Bastech. in which he and Cave Creek Capital are the majority owners.
Mr. Courtney received an undergraduate degree in Economics from Princeton University in 1986 and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. Tom loves tennis, tango & traveling.
